I may have grown up in the 90's, but it sure felt like the 50's. The one television in the house only got two channels over the air, ABC and CBS. I can remember sitting in front of the TV on Sunday evenings, watching 60 Minutes with my dad as far back as 3 or 4 years old.
The reporters changed from week to week, and I hardly remember most of them now, but Mike Wallace always stood out as the reporter with the awesome stories. I was too young to really understand what they were talking about, but I knew it was important. Always managing to charm people who didn't really want to be interviewed into appearing on 60 Minutes, Mr. Wallace certainly never pulled any punches in an interview. A fairer journalist, there has never been. Some highlights:

Having officially retired from 60 Minutes in 2006, Mr. Wallace continued to provide his services and expertise to the program through 2008. The effect of 60 Minutes and reporters like Mr. Wallace on government and politics cannot be precisely measured, but there is certainly anecdotal evidence that his impact is profound.
Mike Wallace passed away early Sunday morning at his home in Connecticut. His contributions to journalism, especially political coverage, will not be forgotten anytime soon.
