Speaking of regulating the press, what about social media? Should social media be regulated? Social media is something that each person opts into on their own accord. By created a facebook page or a twitter account, I am joining a social site where I can speak my mind, put personal pictures online, and chat with friends. putting a picture online or saying something online opens a world of possibilities. For celebrities, this means they are even more obsessed over. For the average joe, this could mean anything from embarrassing pictures getting out to cyber debates over presidential elections. But putting those things aside, the few negatives that may be caused from a facebook or twitter account, the negatives that no one should really complain about since its one of those things that comes with the territiory, there are so many good things that have come about from facebook and other social media sites.
Social media has made it so easy to gain access to news! I can't open my facebook with out seeing some sort of news update, be it United States politics, International Relations, Deaths, or whatever is headlining the news at the moment. The best part is none of the people posting this stuff are the normal culprits. The people who normally don't know anything about whats going on in the world are now forced to read at leas the headings of the news article that someone has posted, or the frustration that someone feels over the occupy movement.
You decide. Regulate social, freedom of speech, media? Blogs?
